Proving that red drum are true omnivores, these images show a crushed 12-ounce water bottle (fist sized) found inside a 27-inch redfish, caught in the Louisiana Marsh on April 10.
Capt. Sonny Schindler, with Shore Thing Fishing Charters out of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, sent these photos from the cleaning table. The bottle was inside the fish’s stomach, though there’s obviously no way to tell how long it had been there. The fish was obviously still hungry despite the filling “meal.”

“I have no theories or explanations,” Schindler wrote in a blog for The Clarion-Ledger online, “only a remedy. Keep your trash in a sealed compartment.”
