Last year’s new world-record yellowfin was huge, both figuratively and literally, since it broke the magic 400-pound mark. That 405-pounder was caught in November, 2010, and recognized as the official all-tackle record in 2011.
Last week, a massive yellowfin came aboard Ron Tegland’s sport fisher Tenacious off Puerto Vallarta. As of this writing, Tegland is headed home to Southern California with his prize to weigh it on a certified scale. For now, he’s guesstimating its weight at a mind-boggling 432 pounds: That’s how it tapes out. It’s worth noting that it beats the 405 in both length and girth.
