As if we need more evidence of an El Niño event occurring on the Pacific Coast of the United States, this series of shots of a small bluefin tuna swimming around in the canals of Marina Pacifica inside Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, California, should eliminate any doubt. The photos were shot yesterday (July 7, 2014) by Bill Buchanan, a principal owner of Cousins Tackle in Huntington Beach.
Bluefin tuna are normally found in offshore waters on the Pacific Coast and rarely venture close to the coast. Last week, marine researchers also netted a small yellowfin tuna in Newport Harbor, about 12 miles down the coast from Alamitos Bay.
