Brunswick Corporation, which owns brands such as Boston Whaler and Mercury, has launched the Nautic-ON smart-boating platform. A hub and wireless sensors communicate with a smart-device app that advises boat owners of their vessel’s location and the status of its vital systems, such as battery levels, bilge-pump activation, oil life and engine hours. Boaters can easily share that status with their service provider. The system is designed for any boat equipped with a battery, and is NMEA 2000 compatible. Hardware prices range from $600 to $1,470; subscriptions cost $99 per season or $149 per year.
