Costa‘s new Rafael frames are made from a resilient bio-based resin material sourced from the castor plant, a sustainable perennial. Using this material, Costa reduces its manufacturing-process emissions by up to 40 percent, cutting the company’s carbon footprint. Rafaels also feature a wide-temple design, wrap shape, three-square-hole venting, and rubberized temple tips and nose pads. Frame colors include blackout, matte retro tortoise, matte olive teak and matte black teak. Available lenses include 580 and 580P in gray, copper, sunrise, blue mirror, green mirror and silver mirror. Rafaels cost $189 to $249.
