This might be the first vented-hull cat to come from the build-to-order Freeman Boatworks, but the hull works like a veteran for generating speed and fuel economy, according to Yamaha tests. The deck plan is wide open for serious tournament fishing or just a relaxing day afloat with its soft kidney-saving ride. The hull is designed for stability and predictably sweet handling. It’s hand-laid with biaxial and triaxial glass mat in addition to premium vinylester resin to give consistent strength and uniform hull thickness. A closed-cell structural core adds strength and minimizes weight.
It’s a build-to-order boat, so owners can choose livewell configurations to suit their game, including tuna tubes in the transom or a simple, pressurized open well for sardines and pogeys. Standard is tackle storage in the port and starboard sides, as well as 14 Gemlux gunwale rod holders. There’s a 20-gallon freshwater washdown/shower for cleaning up on the way to port. It’s also standard with an 800-quart coffin box Freeman describes as “over-insulated” to keep fish fresh. Add luxury seating if you wish and either a fiberglass hardtop or Weblon fabric soft top.
