Garmin has built the EchoMap Plus series on the success of its predecessor, EchoMap CHIRP. The new Plus units come with chirp traditional sonar, chirp SideVü and ClearVü scanning sonar, pre-loaded charts and built-in Wi-Fi to access the company’s ActiveCaptain marine app. ActiveCaptain assists in updating charts and offers community access for points of interest and Quickdraw functions, and provides smart notifications to the MFD. Plus units are available with 4-, 6-, 7- or 9-inch displays. The two larger units offer keyed-assist touch-screens and support Panoptix all-seeing sonar transducers. EchoMap Plus units cost $199.99 to $1,499.99.
