Want something done right? You might do it yourself, like Pursuit Fishing Boats does with many of the components of its boats.
Pursuit offers 15 different boats across four categories — offshore, center-console, dual-console and sport center-console — 23 to 42 feet long, all powered by Yamaha outboards. Ahead of those outboards is a lot of Pursuit craftsmanship.
The company makes its own wiring harnesses, with fully tinned, color-coded copper wire, waterproof connectors, and chafing protection. Battery cables are crimped, heat-sealed and color-coded.
Upholstery and canvas components are made in-house, with quick-draining foam for cockpit seating and cushions. Sunbrella or Stamoid fabric overhead protects the boat and its occupants from the weather.
Roto-molded polyethylene fuel tanks ward off ethanol effects, and Pursuit makes its own fuel lines using pressed fittings.
A five-year hull-blister warranty backs the gelcoat. Transferable five-year hull and deck structural warranties and a two-year component warranty boost resale ease and value.
No wonder, then, that Pursuit is among the brands our survey respondents say they’d be most likely to consider when shopping for a new boat.
Pursuit OS 355
Pursuit’s OS 355 was originally rigged with twin Yamaha outboards — the power preferred by 51 percent of our respondents — but owners sometimes wished they had a bit more horsepower.
Well, they’ve got it now. Standard on the OS 335 are triple Yahama F300 engines; the boat cruises at 34 mph and tops out at 51 mph. With 388-gallon fuel capacity, it offers nearly a 330-mile range.
The one-piece windshield and hardtop structure presents a view of the open sea through tempered glass, while new fabrics and finishes are featured in the cockpit and cabin.
Cabin features include hullside tempered-glass windows. An electrical actuator turns the berth into a dinette and back. The air-conditioned cabin, with a secondary screen door, has queen- and full-size berths to sleep four, a full head with shower, Corian surfaces, a cooktop and microwave. An emissions-safe diesel generator provides 110-volt AC electricity. This fishing boat is definitely family-friendly.
The Pursuit OS 355 has a total of 12 standard rod holders, four gunwale rod holders, four holders on the hardtop support legs, and four in the cabin mid-berth, accommodating the expectations of 62 percent of our respondents who carry up to 10 rods on board.
Cockpit seating includes a pair of mezzanine seats and one stowable transom seat — a demand of 25 percent of our respondents.
