A pair of binoculars is an item you want readily accessible when scouting for birds and weed lines, but you also need secure storage so the expensive optics don’t fall to the deck (or slide overboard) in rough seas. The best solution is a rack to hold the binocs.
Mount the rack fairly close to the helm so you have quick access. I installed mine just inside the companionway to the cuddy cabin, which not only keeps the binocs secure, but also away from any errant spray.
The SSi Binocular Case ($76.89) is made from flexible polyethylene, to cushion the optics, with a weather cover to keep moisture out.
