Shimano has announced an evolution for its Stella reels in the new FJ series of five spinners. Ranging in size from 1000 to 5000, the Stella FJ reels feature Shimano‘s new MicroModule II gear system, with teeth designed to reduce vibration; X-Protect, a design feature that prevents water intrusion; and SilentDrive, enhancements that reduce handle play and noise. The 1000 model was designed for 2-, 4- and 6-pound-test; the 5000 model is sized for 10-, 12- and 14-pound-test. Gear ratios range from 5.1-to-1 up to 6.2-to-1. The reels weigh 6 to 9.2 ounces and cost $699.99 to $709.99.
