Shimano’s new Stradic CI4+ reels now incorporate an asymmetrical Magnumlite rotor, which makes the spinners even lighter than before. The four CI4+ models — in 1000 to 4000 sizes (weighing 5.6 to 8.1 ounces) — also come with cold-forged Hagane gearing and CoreProtect water resistance. The three smaller spinning reels feature 6-to-1 gear ratios and handle 15- or 20-pound-test braid, depending on size; the 4000XG features a 6.2-to-1 ratio and handles 30-pound braid. The Shimano CI4+ reels cost $229.99 each.
