Skinny Water Slam in the Everglades

The Everglades is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, an oasis that offers a glimpse into South Florida’s untamed natural habitat. We sent creators Brent Schirmer and Rich Janitschek, along with Nick Carter, deputy editor of Sport Fishing magazine, on an adventure to explore and fish the Everglades. The team spent three days at the Flamingo Lodge in the Everglades National Park, fishing on the new Bonafide XTR130 kayaks, powered by Newport electric motors. Their mission: fish both open water and skinny backwater creeks and canals in search of an inshore slam. Battling the winter winds, the team successfully caught and released snook, tarpon, redfish, and speckled seatrout.
