Rhode Island-based NorthCoast Boats, a division of C&C Marine and C&C Fiberglass, is owned and presided over by Jose C. DaPonte, who has been involved in boatbuilding since the early 1970s.
In 2000, struck by the “stout lines and excellent performance” of NorthCoast boats, DaPonte bought its brand and hull molds, the company says.
NorthCoast’s boats—four cabin models and six center-consoles—have reverse chines for stability, and aggressive longitudinal strakes for additional lift, great tracking, fuel economy, handling and overall performance.
NorthCoast 255 HT
NorthCoast says fans of its 235 Cabin asked for a big bigger boat, with a private head and comfortable accommodations for two. Add a longer and wider cockpit—with cockpit space being the top consideration of 84 percent of walkaround survey respondents—and a fish-welcoming walk-through transom door, and you’ve got the hardtop 255 Cabin.
The company says the 255’s 22-degree deadrise equips it to run soft and dry at up to 60 mph with optional twin 250s.
The 255 has a 26-gallon transom livewell, a 105-quart transom storage box, and two tackle-storage bins. Four stainless-steel gunwale-mounted rod holders meet requirements of 37 percent of walkaround survey respondents; more rod holders are available as options.
